Local MP Harriet Cross wrote to the Scottish Government calling for a new Inverurie bypass to be kept as part of the plans to upgrade the A96.
The Scottish Government announce that it would abandon its commitment to fully dual the A96 from Aberdeen to Inverness by 2030. Harriet said: “Despite over many years the SNP saying that they’d not move “one inch” on “cast iron” commitments to building the much needed Inverurie Bypass, the SNP Gov have, once again gone back on their word.
The pledge to fully dual the A96 is also being less than subtly removed. I have written to the Transport Secretary setting out how opposed I am to this decision and the importance of increasing the capacity of the A96 for Gordon and Buchan.
Anyone living, working or travelling in and around Inverurie know how badly the town need a bypass. But once again, my constituents and people across North East Scotland are being let down by the SNP’s lack of interest, care or commitment to our region.”
