Harriet Cross was elected for the 1st time at the 2024 general election held on the 4th July 2024 bucking the national trend and being one of two gains for the Conservative Party. Harriet has been a rural surveyor in Aberdeenshire over the last six years. Following her election to Westminster, Harriet said “I want to thank the people of Gordon and Buchan for putting their trust in me to focus on the real priorities of local people, both at Westminster and across the constituency.” Harriet also said “To all those living & working in Gordon and Buchan - I am here for you and our remarkable part of country no matter how you voted last night”.
Harriet paid tribute to her predecessor Richard Thomson and thanked him for being at the helm for the past five words as well as the kind words he expressed towards her.
Following the election results, Harriet was elected with an 878 vote majority and 32.9% share of the vote.
